The Location
The elegant and bustling town of Como is the primary and commercial center for Lake Como. Grand villas, palazzi, and churches show the city's splendor, while intriguing lanes and colorful piazzas show off its charm. Situated on the lake shore, it has a marina and a hydroplane "airport" along with its ferry port. Stroll on the promenade and enjoy the views. The city is a cultural hub with plenty of things to do, concerts, shows and museums to explore. Of course, if you prefer to swim in the lake, enjoy the water sports, or take a hike in the hills, they're all right there!
Como's crowning jewel is its Duomo, a stellar cathedral that was started in 1396 and constructed over the course of four centuries! It has a lovely blend of styles through those years, including Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. Frescoes, paintings, stained glass and sculptures decorate the vast interior. The charming Piazza San Fedele retains its medieval character, and is dedicated to Como's patron saint.
A must during any visit is the Como-Brunate funicolare, a steeply inclined rail car ride that takes you up to the village of Brunate, where you'll have gorgeous sweeping views of the lake, the mountains and the plains of Lombardy beyond.
Don’t miss the chance to cruise Lake Como: the entire perimeter of Lake Como is dotted with charming villages and towns. The most popular destinations are certainly Bellagio, Varenna and Tremezzina.

Como is easily accessible from the airports of Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Bergamo Orio Alserio and Lugano Agno.

Public transportation
From Malpensa
Malpensa Express is the fastest way to get to Como. To reach Como from Milan-Malpensa Airport, proceed as follows: take the Malpensa Express (departing from both terminals) to Milan and get off at Saronno (after about 20 minutes) at Saronno train station, take the train from Milano Cadorna to Como Lago (40 minutes). The price of the trip including both routes is €11 (€8 for Malpensa Express and €3 for the Saronno–Como route, operated by Trenord).
From Orio Al Serio (Bergamo)
One of the easiest ways to get to Como from Orio al Serio Airport is to first take one of the shuttle services just outside the airport to Milan Central Station (1 hour ride). Then, from there, take the train to Como S. Giovanni station (40 minutes). The price of the trip including both routes is €15 (€10 for the shuttle and €5 for the Milan–Como route).
From Milano Linate
The easiest way to get to Como from Milan-Linate Airport is to first take one of the shuttle services just outside the airport to Milan Central Station (30-minute ride). Then, from there, take the train to Como S. Giovanni station (40 minutes). The price of the trip including both routes is €10 (€5 for the shuttle and €5 for the Milan–Como route).

How To Get To The Wedding
If your accommodation is not within walking distance from Villa Parravicini, you can reach the wedding by taxi. For the way back a shuttle service to connect Como centre and Cernobbio will be at your disposal.
